I've got a '00 model as well & went with the RevMaster as well. I also got mine on eBay for around $75. It doesn't have any adjustment like the Dyna3000, but gets the redline up to 5k R.P.M. & is super easy to install. It really woke my engine up! 5K is just right for the 1600 stock. It's honestly the best performance mod I've done! It turned it into a real motorcycle!!!

Go put a Mikuni 42hsr carb on, then you'll really have the best performance mod done.

important bit guys, just in case you missed it.

safe maximum rev limit for roadies with unmodified valve trains.

1600 models - 5000rpm

1700 models - 5500rpm.

as for waking up a 1600 on the cheap, a 1700 ignition module works wonders. the advance curve has a better programme than the 1600, and raises the rev limit but within safe limits. plug and play with no modifications.

So it really makes that much of a difference? Will the 42HSR work with the stock intake manifold & cables?

The carb will fit on the stock intake manifold but you have to get new cables

The stock rev limiter is to ensure that the motor lasts longer than your backbone. Kadoc, IMO, it sounds like you could use change of pulleys. It'll keep you from overreving and still give you the extra oomph you want. Then, once you've grown tired of that, go with the higher rpms,

Retard switches don't do anything unless you wire it in so you don't need to touch them. Try 34A and 36A. See which one fits your riding style best.

sorry if I missed this post or answered it before, did not go thru entire thread. yes, made a difference, nice hp boost. enough that made clutch slip in all gears. and I have to disagree about using stock pull cable, been using stock pull cable for 3yrs, you will need to mod the brkt tho. and route cable just a hair different as well. and would highly suggest to port the manifold or and manifold with extended throat such as the Nemesis (if ya can find one) or a Chariot manifold. another nice mod is for an air kit that I did for the 42, very similar to what Patrick Racing offers with their 42 kit, but this I think has just a hair more filter area and less than 100 bucks as well.

Just so ya know, I did wire it in with a voes, just to see how bike performed on stock engine, and I must have been bored that day and needed something to tinker on. LOL Basically, like ca-ca. LOL never got past idle on the most retard, and only got about 50ft on the least. now maybe if I was using nitrous, it might be a different story
