Hey VW.....That sure sounds like too long of a warm up to me. Yami has you warming up the bike almost 15 minutes? Maybe I'm totally wrong but I know it doesn't take near that long to warm it up before taking off. That right there is gonna cause a lot of carbon buildup.

My 2 cents....greeny

Yeah. I figured the oil level thing out months ago. I was just back storying. But due to my riding style and need to rap the motor under freeway overpasses to scare children in minivans, it's likely the carbon will return. I can't help it, it's a need. Oil level isn't the only way to carbon up a motor. But I'm more prepared to remedy the situation easier and I've learned a lot from other peoples, and my own, failures. LOL. Anyways. Tonights ride home. Ran good, even at low rpm's. Noticed the idle stayed within 500 rpm's from cold to hot (hasn't done that in a while). Used to have to lower it when I got off the freeway. When I got home I found the exhaust push evened out from front cylinder to rear. Can't say the valves are spotless, or the plugs are clean, because I haven't checked and don't own a bore scope. But compared to last week, this roadie is running "cherry". This weekend, I'll probably give it another spritz or two, just to satisfy my own obsessive compulsive disorder. Yes Greeny, I agree. The yama warm up was a contributing factor, and, as a mechanic, I should know better than to take all of what an engineer (Japanese or British) gives as advice. I think The bulletin is ensuring the motor is fully warmed up before riding. I think their theory is if a cold engine doesn't snap to throttle response, the unburned gas will accumulate and build up carbon. I'm presently trying to change my riding habits. Such as, pulling in the clutch when coasting to a stop instead of letting the engine scrub speed, foregoing the full choke, and only running half choke until the bike will idle with no choke (so far, usually 1 minute or so. But I've only started it 2 other times since this mornings 2.5 minute half choke), and finally, using an additive every couple of tank-fulls. If I start getting better gas mileage, I'll know.....BTW, all this is just a technical discussion. For the first time, I'm not looking for advise. Wow. I am so proud right now.
