Bike does have a windshield Hammer - and it's worse at 60-70. There is a bit of a wind here, but not bad. Maybe 5-10 mph top. I never noticed my 950 as being unstable like that, and it had a windshield as well.

I did notice that there is a pretty noticeable catch in the bearing - either there's a worn flat spot or I crushed a roller from over-torquing. At any rate, looks like I'll be servicing the steering head and replacing the bearings. Hopefully that will fix it - if not, back to the drawing board!

One thought I had was I put a new shock on the rear - maybe there is too much preload on it? It doesn't sit down too far in the back when I get on - would that be enough change in the rake/trail geometry to make the bike unstable?

Mighty,

Please see my old thread... http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,187/func,view/id,210988/catid,49/

And then go and get yourself some nice lowers. I promise you it is a night and day difference on my bike. Even the Yamaha mechanic couldn't believe the difference! I highly recommend Buck's lowers, Buck is a member here. You can do a search for him in the search function at the top right.

I promise you my bike is smooth as can be up to 90 mph now!

Best of luck and let us know how it works out.
