Ok , so the pilot is a 35 then (stock)....yes Barons thumbscrew is the same ratio as stock. How long do you warm it up for on the choke before actually taking off. I'm asking these questions because with my Roadstar , I had to go about doing the simple things the way my Roadie wanted it done , not the way I'd been doing it for years past. BB

Seems long. I got to the point that I would be completely ready to go (helmet , winter gear and all) , full choke , fire her up , in about 15-20 seconds push the choke about half way in , ride off , and after about a mile or so , push the rest of the choke in.

Here's a couple more questions. How do your plugs look? And , does you choke knob bottom out on the base or can you see room behind it and the base? Many choke cables have been accidentally stretched by those pulling their carbs off , and forgetting about the choke cable. If it stretches , it never fully releases , meaning you are running with a little choke circuit bleeding into the system (rich). Good reading here :

I did the choke knob trim a while back, it is in good shape, so you seem to be thinking it's running rich? that was my thoughts too, this all seems to have just started after my maintenance, (seafoam, new oil, new plugs) the old plugs looked pretty good, no carbon, the tip was slightly grey. could it be the seafoam loosened something that did go all the way out? maybe i need to do the extreme SVS cleaning involving the removal of the exhaust? Is it possible the bike dislikes either the plugs or the oil?

Did you go back with the standard plug? And with the oil , did you put in more than 4 quarts? How do the new plugs look? Or have you not pulled them. The post you revived involving my Roadie was a Rich condition , so I'm thinking in terms of rich for you too , but those plugs will tell the story. BB

Well , those are all good products.... Has this all been on one tank of gas , or through several? Drainig the bowl and catching what comes out might tell us something , but those plugs will tell us rich or lean , I know they're a pain to get at , but they're the key to what's happening. BB

Re:To blackcherrybomb and anyothers on jetting 2 Years, 4 Months ago
I am running the first tank since all of the maintenance. I ran a full tank out with seafoam then changed oil and plugs and since have used maybe 3/4 tank, do you think I could tell anything from the plugs yet or should I keep running for a tank or two more?>
I just don't want to damage anything. It's so violent when it does this with the lugging and massive backfires (20 ga volume)

what can I look for from the bowl contents?

One thing to note that may support the rich theory, I can turn my PMS all the way in with out much change to idle, is that normal or does that indicate that I should move my needle clip up
