What about you scotto, did you have a problem with the bottom heat shield on the right side and did you stick the end underneath the end pipe muffler or just let it butt aganist?

A few things I noted on the install of these pipes:

A. Keep everything somewhat loose and make sure everything is aligned well before tightening up. Look down the pipes from the back of the bike.
B. The clamps attaching the mufflers to the pipes need to be at the end of the muffler collar and tightened real good. I noticed the right side is a bit weak in the bracket supporting the pipe and muffler. If the clamp is not secure this can cause the muffler to come out of alignment
C. The cross over pipe needs to be pushed into the right side header real good before locking down the clamp on the heat shield
D. Before locking down the rear nuts on the mufflers, slide the heat shields under the front ends of the mufflers and push the mufflers over the header pips as far as you can and then line them up from the back and lock them down and clamp them. If they won’t slide under, bend them a bit with some light force. I used my channel lock with some tape over the ends so I did not mark up the chrome.

It’s a few hour job but they look and sound good. Ride it for a bit them check your clamps. I found my clamps at the mufflers needed adjustment after a long ride.

Matter of fact I did have a problem with that very one... I jammed it underneath/into the end pipe muffler. I flexed it into shape as much a possible without making a crease and with the help of a 2x12, 2x4 and a mallet while also removing the guts of the cann, carefully persuaded the heat shield to go into the muffler. I didnt even need a clamp there its so tight.

Take your time, it took a few hours and patience but, its well worth it.

I went back and looked at my installation of the RH and found that I was to close to the side covers. So using Scotto's method I "reajusted" my pipes and they fit "perfect now". You guys rock.

Yeah , I was laughing but Iam going to have to do a little more adjustment myself, I just have that right bottom shield butted up aganist the rear pipe, mislead by roadhouse instruction sheet

Hey Scotto, You said earlier that you went to tappered tips, what did you have before? When I ordered I was suppose to get the slash, but got the tappered. Know I am trying to decide if I want to stick with them or go to the slash. I remember you said the tappered were a tad bite quieter, which is a good thing. Can you respond a little more on that?

When mine were installed I think having someone help(Thanks Flashback) is a wonderful thing. However,a 3 year old shop foreman keeping track of all the small parts wasn't always a good idea.

Neither of the adults there thought the pipes were gonna fit. They just didn't seem to be right, but suddenly things just came together and it was all over but tightening things up....once we found all the small parts that the foreman had hidden away.
