Total Loss of Power for no apparent reason 2 Years, 3 Months ago
For several months my RoadStar will be going along no problem, just crusing and suddenly all power is lost. Lights are still on and in about 10 seconds when I hit the starter it fires right up again. I have cleaned the air filter, changed the fuel filter, changed out spark plugs, cleaned out carburator. The frequency of this mysterious loss of power has decreased but it still occurs.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this Sudden Pwr Loss?

Did you clean and tighten your battery cables and ground on the bike?

I had a simliar problem the first day I road my bike.

A few things I found, The others have said it too. I tightened down the connections after cleaning them on the battery. Don't use a screw driver, make sure you use a wrench.

another possibility, make sure your kickstand kill switch is functioning right. I noticed sometimes it would slip down and kill the engine. Did not realize this until after I solved all my other problems.

Lastly, i had really dirty gas tank. Alot of crap at the bottom. It died mostly when I let off the throttle after higher speeds. After about 10 seconds it started up. So I think something was clogging up the carb jets. I ran a bottle of seafoam and that helped.

Hope this helps a tad. Still a newbie but people here are very helpful and just giving back from something I experienced that is simliar.

Don't rule out electrical because the lights are still on. Like already said check all connections, kill switches have been known to do that also It could be a problem with the ing mod too gets hot cuts off cools down and it works

You did not say if you knew for sure that it is electrical. So it might be mechanical. I had a similar problem. I lost power at highway speeds. It turned out to be my rear break locking up. See how much break pad you have on the rear. Lone*Road*
