1000 mile should be good but you can go at 600 the break in is supposed to be 600. I run Amsoil 20/50 and decided to switch to Mobil 1 to try and save a little money. The top end started to get really noisy so I switched back to Amsoil and all is good now. If you switch just pick one and stay with it. As for the break in I rode it from 0 miles just like I intended to ride it from then on.
