HSR Purchase advice . 2 Years, 3 Months ago

I have decided to Bite the Bullet and go to the HSR 42 . There are tons of options out there , Speedstar ( as low as $405 US on one site ) MAX air starting at $340 plus all extras to make it fit including Jetting and new Cables ( not sure why ) for around $475 , New Harley Easy Kits off Ebay around $290 ( nothing in the kit useable by us including Jetting ) so would have to buy Jet Kit and retrofit Cables somehow . IM thinking USED( at least sight unseen ) is NOT a good idea as you dont know how many times Backfires thru Carb may have occured and how much damage that could cause to the Slide etc..........
Looking for opininions on the most cost effective and Smartest way to go here from those who have already done it !
