ATF is not equal to 10wt. It is closer to 7wt when new, but viscocity is not a measured property of ATF. It is only evaluated for shear stability, thermal stability, and acidity. There is a reason even "big red" stopped using it.

I know quite a number of people using it with no ill effects.

I've had it in several bikes myself, with no problems, but have always gone back with fork oil. Just an FYI post really. If you are trying to tune a suspension with cartridge emulators, the viscocity matters a good bit. You can really tell the difference, since after 20,000 miles, the suspension fluid will still be a little heavy pouring out, where the ATF will almost pour out like water. It is obvious how beaten down it is.

Were you using a full synthetic ATF??. This one is, out in saddle bag already so don't recall which one I picked up
