Exaust slip on's 2 Years, 3 Months ago
So before i ordered new pipes i tried to convert my current stock pipes to the stage 3. I took the saddle bag off on the exaust side and went to take off the stock slip on's off. They would not move a bit. Is there a bolt under or behind the exaust i didnt see? and do I need to take my exaust all the way off to clean them out?

They are stuck on pretty good at first but after you loosen the pinch clamp on each pipe, remove the 2 bolts in the mount bracket, you have to wiggle them free. Keep in mind on the mounting bracket there is a little tap that sits in a slot on the mounting arm still hooked to bike. You have to lift the exhaust up a bit to clear this or you will only get them to move less than an inch.

The big bolts behind / under the saddlebag has loctite on it and takes some muscle to remove.

True. If you can heat the bolts a little with a torch they'll come out much easier. Got to be careful around that area though.

You dont have to remove the exaust to do the stage 3. I did mine on the bike with no problems sitting on the floor. I have now went to the V&H pipes so I have a set already converted if someone wants them for free. There pretty heavy and bulky so I really dont want to ship them.

I took and completely gutted the stockers and that you do have to remove the pipes for and they sounded good. However even after all that work after putting the Khromewerks on they sound and perform better and all just for $100!!!!!!!!!!
