New Decompression Solenoid Question/CONCLUSION 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Since i`ve been having some problems with hard starting
i started looking at the DC solenoid.(At this time i`m thinking i have a battery issue)But there`s very little about this set-up in the manual. The arm that comes out of the cover has a little cup on the end that the solenoid shaft pushes against.Mine seem to have quite abit of play between the two.But there is nothing in the manual that says how the two should meet.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

I just read something on this forum the other day about this very subject if you want to do a search. After reading about it I took my cover off & noticed the little brass spoon was about 1/4" from the switch button. I took some needle-nosed pliers & bent it to where it just barely touched the button. It does start better now! I was amazed at how easy the spoon was to bend! I wonder how it doesn't bend when it does it's job!

Thanks Bob,was probley my last post
Very nice of you to take the cover off and
look, U Da Man. You wouldn`t happen to remember
how much space there was on the solenoid shaft
between the end of the solenoid and the shaft
end cap?I should be getting the battery i orderd
in today and i also got a new charger/tender
for it.Plan on going over the problem again this
weekend once new battery is charged and installed.

No space ....bend the spoon until it just touches the white knob of the solenoid plunger.

Re:New Decompression Solenoid Question/Conclusion 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Was the battery Last time I just buy a battery from say
Checker or Autozone.Went with the Yuasa YTX20HL-BS.Also bought
the RideNow battery Charger/Tender.
Since it`s been awhile since I changed my spark plus.
I`ve been running the Autolite standard #4164 with no problems
even through bad gas,so I decided to upgrade to thier new iridium
plug. The XP Iridium(#XS4164DP),$6.12 ea.LATER
