I paid $49.00 for the Suzuki set up. It's pretty steep but the best price I found. Wish it was here. We're having some spectacular weather for this time of year.

No those are the numbers for valves that look like the stock valve except they are available in the 2.5 mm size. They also look like the Suzuki valve pictured in the tech article. I wouldn't recommend buying one though without checking the dimensions carefully.

The HSR 4.2 mm valve is shorter with the same 10 mm diameter as the above valves. If the stock valve has the same 10 mm diameter then the HSR valve can probably be adapted to fit. I just don't have a stock valve to measure.

I just bought a set on eBay from a guy for $23.00 plus shipping ($5.00). I looked on bike bandit and found that the proper needle and seat came in the Suzuki Katana 750 and the Bandit 1200. The guy has quite a few of them if anyone else needs them. I e-mailed them to ask what the number is on the side just to make sure. Here is the item number...380175712636.

If you want to go all out...
Suzuki Needle and Seat
Pingel PetCock
Pingel HiFlo Filter
Free mods - Vent gas cap & remove insert from carb fuel inlet.

I am going to try and trim my stock petcock and just use the Suzuki Needle and Seat and see what happens from there. The Pingel petcock is a little pricey. The cheapest I have found it is $90.00 and the filter is around $30.00.

Again, each bike is different, but I'm using the stock petcock & a $5.99 CarQuest fuel filter with outstanding results. Oh, and you can also trim the inlet tube in the tank to get the reserve light on earlier...another freebie.

Works great 3 years no problem stock petcock is fine unless you go to 42 or 45 carb.

stock petcock works fine with a 42hsr carb, running it over 2yrs,without a hitch.

Re:Fuel pump removal (opinions) 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I would love to do this also but a previous attempt failed so I am retrying step by step for those others who had a problem going pumpless even with the larger needle and seat.

Here's what I've found so far: 1. The stock petcock with stock rollover valve venting will flow 25 ounces of fuel per minute at 3/4 tank which is more than enough. 2. On a '99 with the float level set at 3 mm below the mating surface the pump will flow 30 ml at full float drop during the 6 seconds that the pump is allowed to run when the ignition is turned on. That equals 10 ounces/minute. With the float set at the later spec of 4-5 mm above the flange the pump will flow 56 ml which equals 19 ounces/minute.

As you can see it's not the size of the seat that can cause a problem, it's how far the needle drops when the float is at full drop. You might have a 2.5 mm seat but an effective opening of say 1.5 mm or less.

Since I know my bike will run fine at any speed and throttle setting with the pump providing a maximum of 10 ounces/minute I would say that establishes a baseline. So without a pump I know I need at least that much flow at any tank level. At this point I'm pretty sure I would have to set my float level at the later specs in order to go pumpless on my bike. The pump provides a pressure of 2 psi, while the fluid pressure at the carburetor with a full tank is less than 0.5 psi.

Still working on it.

RK & FLASHBACK,WHAT PT# CARQUEST & PUROLATOR IN LINE FUEL FILTERS ARE YOU USING THA SEEM TO FLOW WELL ENOUGH SO I CAN SEE IF I CAN ONE OF THOSE SAME INLINE FUEL FILTERS LOCALLY THAT ARE WORKNG GOOD WITH YOUR BIKES STILL RUNNING STOCK PETCOCK?

Also, are you guys running the larger suzuki 13370-08F50 2.5 needle seat with your setup with elec fuel pumps removed?

LASTLY,Whats the rollover valve,is it a safety valve to stop fuel flow if bike tips over or crashes and did you remove it from the bike when eliminating the elec fuel pump?

Thanks...Scott
