Actually it doesn't matter how full it is, it matters how empty it is. No one ever ran out of gas full.
You could always turn the calender back 30 years and just ride until it ran out of gas then turn the reserve on and drive to the gas station. We didn't need no stinkin' fuel gauge.

I totally agree and didn't have one on my last bike that I rode for about 7 years. I just hate to have something that doesn't work.

Did you remember to plug it back in when you put the tank on?

Yeah yeah yeah, the guage is working now it's just that the low level light is doing the 8 blinks thing and won't stop.

Well that's wierd, the 8 blinks is usually an indication that the fuel sender is not connected, in which case it shouldn't be working.. but your's is...?

I guess the next thing I would do is look for loose or broken wire/connectors...

Check the service manual also, I believe there is a section in there that shows how to test it...

They must have changed the fuel level system on the 2008 and above. Mine reads full after riding about 100 yards after fill up.

Couple miles down the road after a fill up for my gauge to register full, doesn't seem like that big an issue to me, better than it jumping all over the place with ever bump, turn, acceleration etc. etc. etc.

I gota agree with CPO, a bouncing gauge would drive me crazy
not knowing whats in the tank. My gauge is up to full in about
2 mile after fueling.

mineīs a bit slow as well, and also a bit pessimistic.

when it reads empty on the needle and the light comes on, it only takes 15-16 ltr to fill up.

donīt usually bother me though as i rarely need to use reserve, and on a run by that time itīs time for a coffee and a smoke.

(thatīs a point - gotta quit smoking )

yep, takes a few miles of riding before mine registers after filling, too. I've never had a bike with a gas gauge on it, though, so I'm pretty used to calculating miles til I need to stop and refuel.
