Trailers are like bikes, you always buy under and move up. Keeping that in mind, a longer trailer handles better in Forward and mostly reverse. The longer distance from the ball to the wheels the better ride the bike will have. More room always comes in handy, I have seen people put a bunk up front and same on hotels when grabbing a quick nap on a long run. (You can shower for like $5 to $10 at truckstops) Buy something you can take 2 to 3 bikes in. Seems like it ends up that way. And watch your weight, match the gross weight to what the vehicle you intend to pull it with.

Make sure it's enclosed, we don't want anyone to know a Star is in there. Shame shame!

I would definitely consider an enclosed trailer, when I went to sturgis this past summer we trailered on an open trailer. On the way home it rained all the way home, it took me 4 hours to clean the muk from the highway off the bike.

I built this little rig out of a base kit from Harbour Freight...

I call it my Star Hauler, cause that's all it's for...
The whole thing cost me about $350 bucks...
It has a capacity of 200 LBS more than what the bike weighs and with a hitch on my bike, I can pull it with the bike too...
So far, I've ran it up to New England and back (from mid Florida...) and I've since replaced the stock 8" wheels with 12 inche ones...
My little jeep only has a 1200 LB towing capacity so it's a perfect setup...
As a matter of fact, on my North East run... I averaged around 25 MPG...
But, I gotta say... backing up with that rig takes some practice...
But, it all depends on what you want and need...
Me, I need to haul my bike maybe twice a year and then store the trailer out of the way... This one gets hung up on the wall...

This is before I decked it and set the hardware...

StarCruiser You ride your bike up that ramp onto that trailer with a single ramp? OMG! I would never try that with a over 700lb motorcycle.

I personaly would not cover the bike when transporting it. The cover will flap in the wind and buff the paint right off your tins. And the easiest way to hide that it is a Road Star, is place Harley badges on the tank. Then everyone will understand why its on a trailer.

He's right if you use a cover going down the road the least amount of dust or dirt turns you protective cover into a giant sheet of sand paper!! I had to have a couple of semi-tractors repainted because of that very thing.

What's your budget for a trailer? Longer is better, aluminum is lighter weight. If you have an open trailer and want to cut down on the debris, you can make a shield in the front of the trailer like snowmobile trailers do. I wouldn't put a cover on it.

I only know that using the open trailer to take it up north and be able to ride worked with the little trailer you can get at Harbor freight and meijers type and it handles the weight of the bike easy.

the enclosed I used to go to daytona last year added a lot more gas to the towing cost.

and the roadie can get rained on and still start, lol

your call as to how you want to haul it.

That would be an awesome trailer if you 1) can afford it 2) plan on trailering the bike a lot 3) Plan on having more than just your bike. The Aluminum is nice and light, so your not dragging another 1000lbs of steal plus less corrosion to deal with.
