Thanks for the info.

This is a 2 owner bike and both owners were older with very little riding experience especially on heavy bikes. Last owner dumped it while crossing railroad tracks (at an angle). Scared him so he wanted a fast sell.

I was riding a V-Star 650 and looking from a bigger bike when I found this one at a great price with really low miles. I looked it over closely and only found minor scratches on the turn lights and lower tail pipe. All rubber, chrome and paint look great. Engine sounds solid and bike rides great. Only time will tell.

I did check for recalls before buying and found that this had not been fixed. That is where the bike is now; in the shop. As soon as its out I’ll post some pics.

Thanks again

Hope to God it's a good shop... it's an extensive tear-down, and some of the guys here had problems when they got them out.

A good friend of mine had been a Yami tech for years, told me which dealer to take it to... they did a great job. No issues whatsoever!

Hey Rvrrunner, welcome to the Clinic. I'm going to open up an old debate "Who has the oldest Roadie" because the curiosity is killing me. Rvrrunner, what are the last 4 digits of your vin? I believe Jamie99roadstar has it so far with 0012. Anyway, I've contemplated the gearing change too. Does this change effect the speedometer/odometer?

yes it will as well as rpms. going down 1 tooth will increase rpm by a bit less than 200rpm's, 2 teeth, double it. your speedo will show a higher rate of speed than what you are actually doing and well as mileage will also turn quicker. There are boxes out there that will correct the speedo error, but you will need either someone with an accurate speedo to pace you, or use a gps unit. then you set the box switches to the percentage closest to what you are off.

this site has both, that is if this site is still in business, oop's, I see this is not in the states tho

I switched from the 33 tooth to a 31 tooth and put a Speedo-Healer on. They have an on-line calculator and it got mine fixed close enough that it is more accurate than stock ever was.

Stock is about 5% off. I'm now just a bit off. Calculator had me punch in an 11% differential, but driving past side-of-the-road radar sites, I can tell it should have been set for 12%, and would probably be right on.

Thanks Erbman02 I'd never heard of that device before. Alright now let me get this straight; If I switch to a 32 or 31 I will have to use the 1700 belt right?? I agree with Eblack, the naked pulley setup would finish it off nicely.
