Going pumpless or relocating the pump 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I know this has been discussed before but I can't find it. Why do our bikes need a fuel pump? I was going over my other bike and it doesn't have one. What are the advantages to having one. I want to clean up that side of my motor but if there is no real big advantage to having the pump I'm thinking of running it without.

Here's the tech article.

I have all the bits I need. As soon as I feel like doing it, it's done.

Did away with mine a little while back and it runs perfect. I did everything though...

Suzuki 2.5 Needle and Seat
Removed Filter from inside the carb inlet
Pingel Fuel Valve
Russell Inline Filter
Vented Fuel Cap

You would swear it came that way...it starts the same and runs the same. I just 1) Hated that the jugs were covered 2) Didn't like the noise when you turned the key on and 3) Now I don't have to worry about the pump going bad.

Do it!

Oh the noise and additional battery drain each time you turn the key on, I totally miss that! Forgot all about it as another plus when you minus the pump!

Hey Shamrock,

Where did you get the Suzuki needle and seat? Can you recommend a place online, or did you get it at a local dealer. Maxair doesn't carry them. My project bike needs to go pumpless. Thanks for your input on the Cuamita Project.

Lose the pump you won't regret it, tackle it in 2 parts. One form the gas cap to the carb. fuel inlet; and the other for all parts inside the carb. Shamrock did exactly what I did. Read these tech. articles 2 and 3 times over, get your ducks in a row and lose the pump. Good luck.

For anyone else, ronayers.com has those needle seats for around $45. type in p/n 13370-08F50 in the search box and it brings it right up.
