Re:REAR TIRE..........size 6 Years, 10 Months ago
My sig pic is with the 6 degree trees but stock front fork length. The front of the bike is down about 1" at the pegs compared to the stock height.

I added 4" extensions this summer. The bike now sits about 1" above stock at the front pegs.

I have yet to take a pic of the bike. Guess I better get to it

Good eye. I think we need to poke it out.

Sound likes we are of like mind. My bike is apart quite a bit. I need to redo my rear fender as I got stopped the other day and warned about my vertical sidemount being illegal. I'm going to French the plate in and work up an LED stop/tail light with integrated turn signals.

So much to do, so little time. I'm off to Rochester, NY, for a soceer tourny so this weekend is a write-off.

Yes, I do think you need to take another pic, at least before you poke out my eye Love to see what it looks like.
Also, I was wondering where you purchased, and how much the rake and ext. cost.
If that is not too personal!!!!!

I bought my trees from the original source, Looney. They are not the first version but are slightly different than what you can now buy as Looney sold his 'rights' to Dave at Raked Cycles. His website is http://www.rakedcycles.com/site.htm Check out his FAQs.

They are 6 degree raked trees. They will lower the front of the bike but if you have lowered the rear 2" then the bike will be pretty close to level.

The resulting trail with these trees is acceptable but I did notice that the bike felt 'quicker' or more 'nervous'. Nothing to get excited about and it's not a tank slapper but some people may not like the feeling. However, remember my rear is stock height so if the rear is lowered that 'feeling' would be lessened. Now that I have added 4" to the front forks, it feels almost like stock. In other words, lowering the rear or raising the front returns the rake closer to stock.

Apparantly with Looney's 6 degree trees and another 6 degree in the neck the trail should be very close to stock. I had at one time considered raking the neck but I think I'll leave it alone. The wheelbase has increased about 7" in total. Make U-turns interesting

There are now a number of other vendors available; however, I believe only this style is available if you want to use the stock tins which for me was most important as I like the 'tinned' look.

Final note .... if you extend the forks you cannot buy extended tins. I ended up making my own stainless tins which are 4" longer than stock. Don't mean to pat myself on the back (well maybe just a bit ) but they turned out great and it's difficult to differentiate mine from stock if you're not familiar with the bike.

Let's see if I can add a pic .....

WOW,
I do like the extended look. The little extra space between the frame and the wheel is nice.
But, like you said, I also like the stock tins. My bike is a Midnight Star, so I paid extra for my chrome front end, and I dont want to mess with that.
Also from the sound of it, if I extend the forks, then with the 2" drop in the rear I will have a "nervous" ride, don't want that.
Well Im going to have to think on it some more. At least I can rake it without any trouble. Thank you for the pics and for your time Roto
P.S. Just went to the site you recomended...and low and behold, there was a pic of your bike. Very informative, thanks!

Post edited by: ROTOPILOT, at: 2005/07/07 17:38
