The top speed is more than I want to go! I have cruised my 2003 at 80 MPH and I've been up to 90 passing; if I'm going to be any faster than that I want to be off the ground.

So, Clifford, are you saying you like to jump ramp-to-ramp?

Max speed with a windshield will also depend on if your fully loaded down, how much you weigh, if you are going on a flat straight road, concrete or blacktop, outside temps, chaps on engine guards.... bla bla bla... too many things to adjust, but I'll tell you that 100mph shouldn't be a problem

I'm 5'8" aprox 225#, with a full cooler, and loaded for camping I was doing 110 someplace in Iowa last summer, all stock carb and exhaust.

Each bike will bring in different numbers that's the nature of the beast!
I had my 00 on the dyno with thunder air kit & samson big guns.

62hp. 91ft pounds of torque. As for top speed I have had mine up to 110 like Darn but have never tried to hold it full on. I have a fairing, hardbags & trunk. The bike was built to cruise at highway speeds and it will do that fine. If I want to go fast I would buy a completely different bike to do that not a cruiser!!

HP sells bikes; torque wins races and makes a bike driveable. Just to go off topic a bit, I don't get the need for a six speed tranny on our types of bikes. You have a torque curve as long and as flat as the flight deck of the USS Nimitz, but people think that one extra gear will make things all better. Maybe it's like the scene with the amplifiers in the movie Spinal Tap "their's go to ten; Ours go to eleven"

Re:HORSEPOWER? 2 Years, 3 Months ago
yeah forget HP, we have a far more valuable commodity, torque. I see no need for a 6th gear at all. Most of the guys that thinkwe do probably ahve modified exhaust and it seems to get kind of noisy in 5th. Personally I find myself in 3-4 more than anywhere elase as I avoid the super slab Interstates. and the pile of torque we can grab in third is nuts!

You want HP? Well it costs a small fortune....you start with a big fortune and you soon will have a small one! Old drag racing joke.
