The Roadie is by no means a speed demon, but in my books for what it is, it suits me just fine!

Swapping to a 1700 ignition module will get you 500 more rpm before hitting the rev limiter. It's an exact fit and can sometiomes be picked up on ebay cheap. Just plug and play. I doubt this would add much to your hole shot though as the R* power isn't at the top end. Welcome to the clinic!

I don't know but the R* is plenty fast enough for a cruiser. I am more than pleased with it's power, performance and speed. I had previously ridden my 1982 Yami XJ650 Seca Turbo with a 12psi boost kit. Man that was a fast ride and scarry to boot. Tons of HP and speed and crappy handeling and brakes. Reminds me of my old GTO. Massive power and 0 handeling & brakes. Anyway the R* is an awesome cruiser overall period. It's not a racer but a very well balanced machine.

I have the 31T pulley and love it, but it fits my riding style, I seldom run 80mph for any long periods of time so the higher revs are not an issue for me...It did not hurt the top end speed and in fact increased it a bit...

Same here... switched to a 31 tooth front pulley. Kept the belt. Put in a Dyna 3000 with a 5k rev limit... H&V 2-1 Pro-Pipe, K&N universal filter, jetted. And she runs just great. Would love to go up against a Harley and see how she'd do. I whoop my buddies stock * pretty good.

I dunno,
I figure a bike that weighs nearly a thousand pounds fully loaded and can leave a fifteen foot strip of rubber on the pavement when you dump the clutch from a rolling start... is plenty fast enough...!
Heck, I've been rolling as fast as 15 MPH, ripped open the throlle and left ten feet of rubber behind me...

Maybe I'm just getting older, but... I'd be inclined to tell your buddies...
"Go ahead and order the beer for me... I'll be right behind ya'..."

I also have a 1600 with Bub exhaust, been jetted, and has a Baron Big Air kit.

By far the biggest increase in the bottom end came from swapping to a 31T pulley. That will put a smile on your face.

You say you had a Seca 650 Turbo??? I had one too, and it was scary when that turbo kicked in. I agree it was a heavy , clutzy bike but was fun back in the day!!!!
