Throttle sleve part 5 Years ago
In looking through most forums I notice the problem of the throttle sleve, under the right grip has never been addresed. When you go to aftermarket grips you either have to modify the stock sleve or find a replacement part from another bike. Yamaha only sells the sleve with its grips for 70 dollars, which you have to cut and grind to fit into a standard 1-1/8 grip. Has anyone else made these modifications, or found a differnt bike sleve that works? A company that makes these sleves dosen't make one for the Roadstar but says the sleve from a 1500 intruder may work, it is only 25 dollars but I don't want to waste the money.

I purchased a set of kuryakyn ISO grips and didn't have a problem, but you may be talking about something different.

Post edited by: Jreed, at: 2007/05/14 15:05

Same here...Kury ISO grips, and they went right on. Only difference between them and the Yami chrome grips I replaced is the Kury's seem to have about 1/16 of an inch of wiggle room moving from end of bar towards risers and back again. Not annoying, and not even noticeable while riding.

Re:Throttle sleve part 5 Years ago
I know you can get a few grips with the threaded cap, that fits the stock sleve, but the major type of grips are just slip ons, 1-1/8" opening. I am making a sleve out of 1" copper pipe with a coupling on the end, drilled for the throttle cables. My question was to find out if any one had tried other ways to accomplish this. Thanks for all replies.
