Back Fender Vibrates! 6 Years, 1 Month ago
I have noticed that when my "05" brand new Roadie" is idleing the back fender vibrates. Is this common? Do I have to worry about something coming loose or breaking? Just a newbie with a great Motorcycle that worries....Any help will be appreciated..

Frankallen:

The "tail wag" is a result of the lope that is caused by the single-pin crank.

Actually, this has been an issue for the 99-03 Road*. If you look, the rear fender is comprised of two sections. The two sections are secured by a bracket on the backside of the fender. The bracket on the 99-03's was inadequate and had a tendency to crack. The tail wag didn't help matters any.

Anyway, this was a easy fix for Yamaha, so on the 04-up Road*, the fender bracket has been reinforced and should not pose any issues.

Thanks.

Haven't noticed the bike tail wag on my '07 but I definitely wag mine when I go to the garage!

That it is. But I did replace the 4 incandescent bulbs in the baf=g running lights with some low profile 1157 LEDs. Not as bright as bulbs, but plenty bright. SO even less drain on the electrical system. I'm out of 15 AMP fuses for the headlights, but I read in here that others are using a 20 AMP fuse. I have plenty of those, so I'm gonna pop one in until I get another 15 AMP. Or should I go down to be safe and use a 10 AMP?

Anyway, I'm happy with her big lit up butt.
