adding electrical connection for MP3/GPS 5 Years ago
I want to add an accesory connection for future GPS and for now an MP3 player and Cell phone. How do I add a connection (where do I make the connection) and run the wire to make it look good and not to cause any problems with the electrical system. The bike is a 2007 roadstar 1700 silverado.
if you also have photos as to how you did it?

Thanks in advance.

I picked up a 2 pole plug at my local auto store I wired mine right to the battery - added an inline fuse right off the battery, ran it through the wiring harness under the tank (required tank removal - easy to do - see tech section for directions) electric taped the wires where visible up to behind the headlight

*** the 2 pole plug has one exposed end MAKE SURE THAT ONE IS THE GROUND / NEGATIVE TERMINAL OFF THE BATTERY ***

if you use a trickle charger the plug I used was the same so I can hook my trickle charger up to the same plug

much smaller than a cigarette lighter plug it does require you to splice the plug to the wire for the gps / radio / mp3 / amp / cb / whatever accessory your using - I even made my own air compressor for my emergency kit - took the plastic case off the air compressor and wired a plug in place of the cigarette lighter end - now I have a plug for it up front and one in the back (which was the wire for the trickle charger).
