I use Castro Syntec Blend...quite a few of the folks use the Royal Purple...if you do a search of the Forum you can get a ton of info on oils and filters.

I use mobil 1 vtwin 20w-50 synthetic oil with a mobil 1 m1-110 oil filter. Engine runs quieter and I like it. Had some questions about it earlier on the forum due to some things the dealer had said. But others here set me straight about it. So I am sticking with it.

GREAT! (Another potential OIL DEBATE!!)
I use Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 synthetic with NAPA Gold oil filter, and it has been great! The Roadie loves it.
Amsoil make a good V-Twin oil too, but it's the most expensive.

I use AmsOil 20w50 motorcycle oil. As a bonus, it really quieted down the engine. But other brands will do the same thing. I switched from dino @ 800 miles and have had no problems at all.

Lots of good info on the synthetics, now the task is finding them. Again, in Canada it seems we just can't get all the same stuff as the US.

Re:Synthetic oils? 5 Years ago
I just bought my first Roadstar after driving Goldwings for years. It's a 01 and first of all I find out I had a recall to deal with. After recall work done ... Without dealer doing the oil change, I wanted to switch to Synthetic. This old Roadie needed some TLC. I did a lot of searching for oil and found Amsoil. Try there web site amsoil.com and you'd be able to search the right oil weight for your bike also see the test done with other name brands. I made the switch and also running the synthetic transfer case oil too. If you only change your oil at the start of the season, this might be a good oil to switch to. It's a little pricey, but reading all the literature about amsoil I felt it was the best for my Roadstar. Hope this helps ............ Have a great day!
