After last week the bike runs perfect..(almost). Went on a poker run yesterday, it ran strong, sounded great,..milage took a little dump, but that might be associated with this little problem. When I'm running at highway speeds, or in town, and I'm holding the throttle perfectly steady.. no accel, no decel. Then I barely start to back off of it, It starts to make a sputtering noise that I've never heard before. Sounds like it wants more gas or less, I dont know. Only noticed this since the jet change. Question: is this just a PMS adj?... which I really havent messed with yet since I did the jets. BTW Doc, went back in a put the 180 main in it and it is better than the 175. So now I'm running .. 180 main, 35 pilot, clip on 4th slot, have the pms out at 3 turns to start. Basically stock except the lo boys. Still has the stock airbox.

our beasts are air hungry!
My last group ride was at night, the guys said she smelled a bit rich and on decel from high rev shooting flames about 3 ft! Sounded like it was cool but I knew it wasn't good. Spoke to Doc and his suggestions were the absolute fix...seafoam! I'll send you info and some pics.

lol , Dont know if you saw any of my posts from last week.. I've been goin' round with yami. I had a stuck valve, rear cyl. just shut down, dumped about a half gallon of gas in my oil in 10 miles. just had all the valves adjusted...carb jetted. bike runs better than it ever has since I bought it. Just that one little thing. It really isnt even enuf to bother with, but it bugs me. The bike runs flawless right now, I figure it's just a 1/4 turn of the pms one way or another. I hate to even touch it because it's doing so good right now.

did you do your own valves or take it to the stealership? I've been afraid to open up the engine myself. I want to get to a dyno before i do any more engine mods...

I took it to the 'stealer'.. I've been bitchin' to them for so long that something wasnt right with that rear cyl. ... they kept telling me 'ring free' and all the quick fixes. Well I've done the seafoam, ring free, only temp fix for me. When it finally took a dump and I took it in there, they were kinda embarassed. They put it to the front of the line. Did a comp check.. front cyl. at 150 lbs, rear cyl. at 90 , pulled the valve covers, 'unstuck it', adjusted them, I'm not covered by the warrenty anymore so they told me the labor was over 200 bucks... told them to kiss my arse Went thru a few people in the office and an hour later I left with my bike for the price of the oil change. It helps to bitch around the salesman's desk that have customers sitting with them filling out credit app's. LOL For once the stealer did the work right! hats off to 'shane' at Findlay Oh. Yamaha

From what I hear.. No. seems to be more 1700.. 04' and 05'... doc said in 06' they redid the valves on the 17's . so they know there was a problem.

Sounds a bit rich in midrange.

I assume you did the in/out of the PMS to get it to the point of max revs?

Try raising the needle. Assuming you now have a washer, clip in 4, spacer, on silver washer ..... put the clp on 3, with 2 sliver washers under the white spacer.
