Uncle Buck arrived with an embarrassing backfire 3 Years, 1 Month ago
I just recently made some modifications to the bike which include, V&H longshots, BAK, jet kit and ignition module. Bike is running awesome and there was a noticible increase in power, so I'm really happy. Tuned the carb to the settings suggested by Baron for those modifications and seems to be pretty close to where I want to be.

My only complaint is the occasional backfire/afterfire within a second of two of shutting the bike off. I've search previous threads for this and it sounds like some people have fixed this by slowing the idle or making adjustments to the carb. My thoughts are that it's running a little rich and after the bike is shut off there is some unburnt fuel that makes it way to the hot exhaust pipes and ignites. My first instinct is to adjust the PMS to lean it out a little bit.

Am I on the right track? All suggestions welcome. I will eventually bring it to a shop that has a dyno and air/fuel analyzer to get it as close to "perfect" as possible, but until then I like giving it a try myself. Thanks in advance, Pat

Having Uncle Buck arrive is a LOT better than having Aunt Flo show up with HER visitor once a month!!!

Sorry...couldn't resist!

Go out on the PMS 1/8 th a turn and try it. If not go in 1/4 from there. It can be a lean or a rich pop so that I am told and so that I have found by doing same adjustments.
