You didn't happen to just change the rear tire or work on the rear end did you? Mine did that when I had the belt too tight.

16000 mile service about 6 week ago but this started yesterday, belt has about 1/4" to 3/8" play in it.

When you check a belt don't move it up & down like you do for a chain. Twist the belt and it should go about 45 degrees; if it won't go 45 it is too tight and if it goes more it is too loose.

If the belt tension/alignment is right and you think it is your belt. rub the inside of your belt with a regular bar of soap at least twice.mine was so bad buddies behind me would tell me I had a bearing going out.I use soap every third bike wash. it worked for mine. just my .02

checked the belt by twisting it and got it to about 45 degrees but it took a great deal of effort so it may be to tight.

thanks for the tip SYF

Yep, too tight. I can rotate mine 90 degrees.

I guess it depends on your grip strength. Kind of like the difference between pink & purple...
