Winter Gear 4 Years, 11 Months ago
I ride my '05 Road* Silverado year round (just under 10K miles the first year). Even with hand deflectors and some fairly decent gloves, it still gets a bit chilly between the fingers at 65 MPH when it's 17 degrees outside.

Have been kicking around the idea of getting battery-heated glove liners or gloves, but was wondering if anyone on the forum made the leap to electric clothing, running off of an electrical port from the battery.

I've seen some touring bikes, like the Venture, that have some kind of hookup that the rider can plug his suit/gloves/etc. into.

Any experience or suggestions are welcome.

I'll weigh the beauty of the full-electric option against the cost of $20 gloves and batteries. hehehe

I bought the Yamaha riding suit, and it has worked fantastic for me. I have rode in 34 degree weather and did not get the least bit cold, except for the feet and hands. If only some really good gloves and socks could be found LOL.

yamahajohn,

Couple of folks I know have the battery-heated gloves and love them. I'm thinking about going that way myself (as per the post).

Here's one brand:

Cabela's Outdoor store sells the Lectra Sox, which are also supposed to be good.

I actually have a 1-piece snowmobile suit I ordered from a place in Canada that is downright toastie, even though it's not electrified. Cost me under $100. Got my first snowmobile suit when I bought my first bike in '77. Have had one with each bike since. Far cheaper than motorcycle-specific gear and, frankly, almost too warm when I'm not moving.
