Slash cut slip-on exhaust 1 Year, 6 Months ago
I just bought a set of slash cut slip-ons, they are used, but in great shape. I'm not sure what brand they are, but they do have 2071 stamped on them, but no Cobra logo. I installed the pipes today and they sound great, in fact a little louder than I expected.
My question is, do I need to re-jet the carb even if they are baffled? Thanks for any input on the issue.

NO! Remove the AIS and maybe a slight tweak to the pilot screw. if you get excessive decel popping or backfire, bet my last buck AIS removal will solve it. Also be careful, from what I read in past, slip-ons are more prone to leaks at the slip joints. Preferably leave baffles, you need some sort of back pressure for the low end tq.

Listen to Erbman. He is the best when it comes to carbs and that kind of stuff.

Hmmm. I guess the the AIS removal is something I'll have to do. Mine has slip ons as well, and pop like crazy on deceleration. I bought some pipes (Bub Jug Hugger knock-offs) that have no baffles. Maybe a mistake, but we'll see. As the KISS song says, "I wanna hear it loud"!

They look like Roadhouse slip-ons. I had some on mine.Just make sure they are on good so they don't leak. They look good.
