EFM Auto Clutch 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Because of 31 years of overuse as a court reporter, the tendons in my left hand and wrist have about had it, and I'm getting arthritis in the index finger. I sure want to keep riding, and the EFM Auto Clutch sounds like a fantastic solution to my weak clutch hand. I read through a thread here that talked about a few people ordering the clutch, but didn't find where they had actually installed it and talked about their impressions. Hope I didn't miss something.

Has anyone here installed the EFM Auto Clutch? If so, how do you like it? Pros and cons?

Or do any of you know someone who has installed the clutch, and how do they like it?

(I actually have a V-Star 1300, not a Roadstar, but a Google search led me to this site.)

Thanks!

Linda

I finally figured out that you're talking about the picture in my blog.

Don't know about the hat. We were at the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum, which is owned by an elderly gentleman that used to race bikes in Australia. He had that for people to put on for picture-taking. All I can say is that it was real leather. Last time I checked his website wasn't working.

Alright fine I'll let everyone know. Here's what I did for my wife who is all of 5'2" and has small hands. She had trouble pulling the clutch so I built this.

*Easy Clutch*

I used a u-groove bearing from here. (U-Groove Bearing)

I built the arms out of aluminum and used a rivit to hold things together. I can pull her clutch with 1 finger. And she just loves how easy it is!

Thanks, Danny! Sure wish I'd talked to you sooner!

After my three-year maintenance contract expired last spring, I started going to a creative independent mechanic who came up with something real similar to your mod. Yes, it is a whole lot easier to pull in, but I'm afraid it's too late for me. Anything more than a one-day ride does that hand in. And I'm sure not ready to give up my cross-country rides just yet! Hopefull the mod will be "in time" for your wife!
