does this seem right 1 Year, 4 Months ago

im putting on some l.e.d lights and cant get them to work right... i know that is a common problem but my question is with everything isolated and unplugged from the main wiring harness i can take the blue wire(running light/tailight) and do a contanuity test to ground and the meter goes off... meaning it is grounded but the tailight is still working when i turn it on. so it is not blowing fuses.... whats going on.

You are providing a path to ground through your meter that does not exsist otherwise.

The blu running lite is 12v positive, it is an open to ground. You don't say what kind of leds you are using, some only need a very small voltage, or a load resistor. more info from you would help to get your answer

You are getting continuity through the lights to ground. If you remove the lights then there won't be any continuity from blue to ground.

Funny Star should mention that, I just installed that kit last night.
If that is what you're working on, I can tell you that the diagram they included is not for a Roadstar, at least not an '05. The brake light wire is the yellow one going into the white tri-plug. The running light is the blue one on the same plug. Those are the ones you want to tap into.
I spent an extra beer using my meter to verify which to use.
Hope it helps.

Avoid the drama and save $$$$. For less than $5.00 , the cost of 2 1157 sockets you can pull the sockets out of the turn signal and replace w/3 wire 1157's. Too easy to do and save $100.00 bucks. There's a good tech article on the forum that explains how easy and cheap it is. Did mine for under $5.00 and an hour of time. Replaced lenses w/ the cheap red lenses $($6.00) for both. They have a larger side profile than stock lens or the kuryaken lens which show up really well from the sides at night. Just a cheaper alternative.
