Re:Seat unlock failure 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Got it fixed last Monday. Removing back seat will not work cause the main seat has to be removed first to do that. If your main seat is placed properly you'll never get in from the back. If the gas tank could be removed it'd be easy but once again the main seat has to be removed to do that.

How I did it: Luck. 1 out of 50 tries and the solinoid or whatever it is up by the ignition worked. Once I got the seat off I changed things cause the seat release was the stupidest system I ever saw. Maybe my battery is only putting out 11 volts or something. I'll look into that. Once I had the seat off I removed the cable from the latch (two bolts to remove latch) and fixed copper coat hanger wire to the latch lever. Replaced the latch after sliding the wire through the frame out the left side so that the wire came out just above the side cover area. Replaced side covers and seat. Slide small wax paper tubing(from bottom of coat hanger) over the wire between the seat and side cover. Cut off extra wire and then bent a little gripping handle with whats left of the wire (be sure to leave alittle extra). Works 100% of the time without effort. I left the cable disconnected and tucked in.

Once again I can check and replace oil and even boost the bike.

If My original release didn't work that once I would have been fishing with a coat hanger trying to catch that cable area between the latch and the cable sheeth.

I can post pics tomorrow if anyone wants a see.

Thanks for all the help

The release isn't run by electricity. It's just a cable like your car hood in the olden days used. But, I'm glad you were able to get it. Good job.

Glad you got her fixed. I haven't had any real trouble with mine, but, just in case, pics would be nice.

Pictures as promised.

The Latch bolted in

The latch unbolted with wire attached and fed through out the side of the bike.

The other end of the wire trimmed, wax paper tube slide on, and gripped bent into the end.
