what year R1 calipers work 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Hello, I will be going to a single disk in the near future. What year YZF or R1 calipers would work best? Thanks.

R1/R6 claipers about 2003-4; they changed the calipers and rotors about then. If you search ebay for 00-01-02 vs 05 you can see the difference.

At least, if not older. The R6 changed over to the new style about a year before the R1.

Do the ebay thing and you'll see the difference and you won't go wrong. The correct rotors are 6 bolt pattern not 5.

Does it matter which front brake caliper (left or Right) I buy?
I guess it's just a preference or is one side better than the other.

FWIW, I have a pair of the 6-pot calipers sitting in a box. I really don't think I'll ever use either one.

So, anybody wanting to go single disc, either right or left side, with a 6-pot caliper... I'd be willing to help out. I did pay for them, so I'm not giving them away.

Do you still have the calipers and if so what are they off of? Any pics? Thanks

you could also get a caliper from a 1700 R* and change nothing else but a brake line. your stoping power would be the same as you have now going from a 2 piston caliper to a four piston from a 1700 roadie. i think i have a black spiegler brakeline made for single side setup not even used still in the package
