Amsoil 4 Years, 10 Months ago
Hi! New guy here, like all the info. I have used Amsoil 20/50 V-Tiwn oil for more than 20 years in Harley's , have had good luck with it. The stealer says the 03 Roadstar I have now dose not need the synt. Amsoil , but I would like your idea's. Also my MPG is 38-43 Jardine pipes, carb was jetted by first owner do not know what the jets are. Would like better MPG.I need a good service manuel as I do my own repair', Just got the 03 back Saturday from stealer for recall work and new steering bearing at 15,000 miles. Thought that was a little early for bearings, didn't have time to do them myself. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Clinic

The Roadie may not "need" synthetic but almost all run cooler and quieter with it. Amsoil is good stuff. Go ahead and run it if you have faith in it. We would really need to know what you have for jetting in there right now to be able to suggest anything. You can download the manual for free here:

welcome Wildman ... I'm a believer in Amsoil. the 01 runs 10w/40 and I notice the difference. I even went with their synthetic 80 weight for transfer case. I like the fact stated on their web site for the amount of miles between changes or once a year. I don't put on there total miles in one year and do like to start off the season with fresh oil. It's nice to know while your sitting in traffic your oil is doing it's job. Come back offend you'll get a lot of great info here .... I did!

Post edited by: NJADATD, at: 2007/07/22 17:43

Wild man go for it I just changed mine today put 4 qts Amsoil 20/50 twin. Also changed my transfer case oil to synthetic which is a pain with my pipes. I use a pump to pump it out the big hole and measure what I put back in. BTW Welcome to the clinic.

Welcome wildman..I put amsoil 20/50 in mine also when I got it. I'll never use dino oil in a bike any more. You can really tell a difference in the engine noises and how it runs a little cooler, better for that clutch too. I can almost bet the 'stealer' was walking you over to the Yami' brand oil display as he was explaing this to you. I recently had some stealer work done and they dumped my amsoil and put 'yami' 10/40 back in ...what a difference. I had 35 miles on that new oil when I dumped it and put amsoil back in. Cant go wrong with a good synth.
