Is this normal, 1 Year, 2 Months ago
I have a 08 R* with a K/N big air kit and I have noticed after riding my bike and when I go back out to the garage I can smell gas really strong. Any of you having the same problem or any of you might know the cause? Thanks in advance

Mine does exactly the same thing. Running a bit rich and down a little on mileage, but pulls like a bastard right to red line, and prob runs a bit cooler as hasn't puked since install.

Steve,
I think I noticed that when I had the Power Commander III USB installed on my bike. It went away after I removed it.
Are you running an aftermarket fuel module? Is your AIS removed or disabled? Are your O2 sensors hooked up?

Bill, no power commander, AIS removed, and 02 sensors hooked up.

If your engine is really hot and the tank is vented that could be the smell is coming from. Just a random thought.

Mine does the same thing unless I fill it up before I get home. The engine heats the tank after shutdown and the fumes can get pretty strong. The cooler gas from filling up seems to help. Shine a bright enough light so the vent below the bike causes a shadow and you'll be able to see the fumes.

I think I can see the shadow of the vent in your picture. Park a hot bike with the sun angled like that and you should be able to see the shadows caused by the fumes.
