c'mon, folks..its all about the oil..right..?? All of our motors make noise..they just make less with the right oil..

You're right about that. in 127k miles, this is the 3rd time I used MC specific oil. went with Lucas 10/40 blend. got 1k on the oil and bike sounds like ca-ca. I know it's not gonna do harm, so just will wait to about 4k and go back to mobil 1 15/50 auto oil or Rotella.

=================================================

Erbman,FYI,lucas bike oil came in 16 out or 17 bike oils tested so you right,its CA CA for sure.

The pass car nascar approved mobil 1 15w-40 syn race oil you generally run has a decent 1300ppm zddp for car oil tha6t good for the R*'s Ft cam and it its way better then the lucas or rotella oil is for a bike .

The coventional rotella 15-40 thats like 14bucks a gal isnt a good choice at all eityher,it has way too low zddp for the ft cam in your bike,rotellas t6 syn is marginal for Ft cam protection at only 1200ppm zddp.

If your tight on bucks try chevrons delow 15w-40 oil thats approx $14 a gal and has a decent 1300ppm zddp that ok for the ft cam in your bike.

But get that lucas crap out of your bike ,i would not run it 4k miles because it performed very poor in all the oil testing so it's marginal protection at best for you R*,try the chevron delo,but not the rotella!

BTW,if your stuck on shell-rotella brand oil if can find some NEW OLD STOCK CI rated (no mention of CJ on container)rotella 15w-40 mfg'd prior to 1/2007 it had 1500ppm zddp that's fine for your ft cam'd R* but not the CJ rated rotella mfg'd post 1/2007.

I had a ticking noise coming from front pulley turned out to be nylon bushing check to see if nut is tight take a 36mm socket, should have a lock washer bend to hold nut, one thing I did to fine it was put wd40 on belt that stop it HD make a product called BELT DRY''' good luck
