Power Commanders ROCK! 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I just got back from getting my Power Commander III EX installed. Just on the drive home I could tell there was a difference in performance. Pulled in the driveway and got out my computer and started tuning a little bit. The EX does not allow changes under a certain RPM/Throttle setting. I adjusted everything above that area and went back out for a quick test. Well one mile lead to another and then another I guess you can see where this is going. This little black box has unleashed some hidden horsepower! The area that you can adjust is generous and the amount of fuel you can feed is substantial. I going to get it dyno tuned just as soon as I can get some pipes for it. That K&N RC-1624 Is really singing out loud now. While it idles it has a definite thump and has smoothed out a bit. I hit the rev limiter all the time now because the rpm's build up so quick now. Throttle response is immediate and crisp.
I know my gas mileage is going to be crap, but what does it take to make HP? Lots of air and fuel. Luckily if I need to increase the fuel milage I can just down load another fuel map. I can't wait for the Dyno test.

I think dollar for dollar you get more bang for the buck. Did you notice that right off the bat the bike actually had more THUMP at idle? The mechanics where I take my scooter noticed right off the idle was more powerful. One of them took it test ride and pulled in with a huge grin and said, "You're gonna love this!" He's right!

Also while I was there I got the full oil change to Amsoil, engine, and transfer case to synthetic. Spark plugs too.

I didn't see any negative comments. So far it's just you and I talking about them. I adjust all of the points to just -5 in all of the blocks and the rpm build very quickly. I keep hitting the rev limiter. You know for what we save on jets and time will buy us some decent steaks down the road. Besides we get to tweak and peak our bike with the computer. I have one laptop especially dedicated just for that purpose.

I've been running the Wiseco fuel management unit for several months now. I first put it on in October and ended up removing it and hooking my o2 sensors back up. I did some research and learning and this time it has worked out fantastically. My bike runs really well.

I agree with the idle having more thump. I recently put pictures of my spark plugs on the forum and everyone said they looked great. I actually used the plugs to dial it in.

The Wiseco unit has three circuits just like a carb; an idle to just off of idle, medium acceleration, and wot.
It also let's you set at what rpm one closes and the other starts.

It's very simple to work with once familiar with it. Gave my bike serious guts.

I wanted a fuel management system that would run closed loop. The PCIII EX is for the California emission compliance. There is a large area that you can not adjust below 50% throttle. But who cares? The adjustments made above the 50% throttle does not affect the settings down low. My bike pulls like a tractor and sounds different now. The EX version is worth the money.
