The neck into the tank is a very soft steel. Just punch a bunch a holes in it all the way around... and you can fill it right up!

But, only do that just before a ride, and not before a park!

Just like everyone has said here. The neck in the tank is pretty soft metal. You can do this very simply without removing the tank. No drilling required. Just get a metal punch with a fairly sharp point to it and a hammer. Place the punch against the fill neck and punch a hole right through it at the 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions if you can, even three holes will be better than what you currently have. Then you'll be able to fill right up to the cap if you want to.

Txwelder Any suggestions on getting the holes in that filler neck without getting shaving in the tank? Im guessing I have to remove, drain and drill upside down? Thanks for all the quick, and some not so quick replies!

You are just punching some holes in the filler neck, there should be no shavings. It is an easy fix and you gain around a 1/2 gallon of fuel versus air in the tank. I used an awl from my tire repair kit and a small hammer.

About three taps on each position as stocked mentioned should do.

I know this same guy will be back in a month asking how to open the vent in the cap cause when he fills the tank the bike starves for fuel
