Both my bikes do it and I have gone through 3 sets of pads on my 05 and a set of rotors. My take on it is DON"T screw with them and put any thing on them. Learn to live with it and know you can stop when you need to. The brake system on these bikes are great don't take a chance on your life.

My '06 does that, too. It does seem to go away to a large extent after the brakes warm up. Was gonna have it looked at, but now I won't bother!

davej, I just went out to the garage and grabbed it: Solder Seal GUNK product called Squeal Medic "brake squeal& squeak cure". The O'Reilly's part number is GNK M7-2502. It is a 2 ounce spray can and it cost $9.64 here in Grand Rapids, MN.
I just did a light spray on both sides of my left side rotor and all the noise is gone. Don't have a clue how long it will last but we will see. Did not affect the braking power.

Thanks. I looked it up on the net and you can get a 12 oz can for about $13. I can't find much more info about how it works or reveiws on the product. But if it work on your brakes so far there must be something to it.

To me its more personal choice. the nasty noise mine made went away with the wind noise or a helmet but the noise pulling up to the pumps or stoplight is, well, embarassing.

I know this is a big problem with a lot of R* owners, surely someone here has found a brake pad that eliminates this. I just bought new ones from Yamaha @$43.00 per side and they are copper colored. The spray worked but I can't believe it's going to last. So for now the new pads are still unopened.

So How about it out there guys? Any luck with different brands or composite types?

I'm gonna give the Squeal Medic a try. I can hear it even when I'm riding.
