Steven -

I put this one on mine, which has wired brake, turn and stop in the spoiler. The brake lights in the spoiler can be animated as well, depending on how you wire it. Had to install a luggage rack to mount it on however. It comes with all instructions for mounting and wiring, and blends in well with the color. The original site that I found it on doesn't work for some reason, but I found them here as well: http://www.vcanhelmet.com/trunks.html.

TBone, thankyou, it seems to be just what I'm looking for, where did you locate the luggage rack, as the stock ones have a up swing tail not conducive to mounting a trunk.?

The stock luggage rack does have an upswing, but it actually worked out where it leveled the whole installation out a bit. The upswing actually is mostly hidden in a recess beneath the trunk if I recall correctly.

Hey Tbone 21,
That VP Luxury trunk from Pacifia, on your roadie looks sharp! I was wondering about the luggage rack you used to mount it. Did you use the stock issue Yamaha rack?
And did you have to remove your stock sissy-bar and backrest to use the trunk?
I have just ordered a silver trunk for my 2005 Silver Silverado. I am hoping it will match up with the bike's color, and not clash with it too much.
I look forward to your helpful reply. Thanks, Man!

StarMyram -

Yes, that is the stock rack that mounts in the place of the backrest. It uses the exact same holes as the sissy bar, and the cool thing was i was able to then build the backrest for the drivers seat using the pad from the sissy bar. Keep us posted, as I'm sure matching black was much easier than trying to match any other color.

Thanks for the info. I will be ordering the Luggage rack #STR-5VP51-30-00. And hopefully it gets here in time for the VP Trunk to go on.
(I've alredy made a bracket and bought a matching backrest pad for my rider's seat.)
I will for sure keep you posted on how things go with the installation.
And I will let you know how the silver trunk looks on my Silver Silverado.
If it clashes, I may get a bodyshop to match the paint on the trunk to the bike if it looks terribly different.

Post edited by: StarMyram, at: 2007/08/11 14:39

T Bone with each entry another thing pops up. Being a secret weapon for the armed forces......give me a tool and I'm deadly. So. I need to remove the sissy bar to install the trunk, correct? Now you indicated that you used the back rest for your front seat which looks cool, bearing in mind my fantastic ability with tools, any thoughts?(other than buying a seat with a seatback) Just picking your mind man, I'm gonna order the rack and trunk next month when the eagle poops again. thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,steve
