Nice job with the photos. Now where did you get the braided hose, and where did you mount the indicator?

Was that a question for me? Sorry if it was, I have a hard time keeping up with the pace of the forum.

I got every thing from Summit Racing. Their Tallmadge store is on my way home from work.

I assume your install would be different as I have a fairing and mounted the gauge there.

The electric Autometer oil pressure gauge that I used comes with a sending unit. So that with these parts from Summit Racing.

FRA-310010 Brake Hose, Braided Stainless Steel, Straight, 10 in., -3 AN Female, -3 AN Female

EAR-961603ERL Straight, -3 AN Male to 1/8 in. NPT Male, Steel, Zinc Plated

EAR-991001ERL Coupler, Straight, Female 1/8 in. NPT to Female 1/8 in. NPT, Aluminum, Blue Anodized

RUS-640511 Brake Adapter, Steel, Nickel Plated, -3 AN to 35 Degree 10mm Banjo

EAR-977515ERL Adapter, Banjo Bolt, with Crush Washer, 10mm x 1.25 Single, Steel, Zinc Plated (NOTE: this had to be modified I turned 8mm threads on it)

The sender is mounted along the lower right frame rail. The "brake hose" could be shorter for this install, I was having a hard time finding a shorter one for a good price.

Yes sir it was a question for you. The pace get a little hectic around here. What pressure do you register at idle. I'm gonna start gathering parts to get mine installed.

Re:oil pressure gauge 1 Year ago
I'm gonna have to ballpark that number. At start up around 55, fully warm (warm day out for an hour +)it was down at 20-25 at idle. Comes up quite a bit up as soon as the RPM's come up. I haven't been out on a very hot day yet, running 20-50 V-twin oil.

Mostly I want to see not too low and not too high.

I road with a co-worker who rented a harley. On a hot day the oil pressure gauge would barely be off the bottom. He kept asking "should I be worried". "Nope" I said "it ain't yours".

Not a real concrete answer but hope it helps,
Rod

I don't know about the new ones, but the Shovelheads, Panheads and Knuckleheads all run at about 10 psi after they are warmed up.

I have the Autometer KlockWerks edition. I get the same readings. I bough my braided hoses and the fitting for under $20 from VW Heaven. My gauges are mounted on the risers and the sensor is under the seat so the braided hose cant be seen. Also, i did not need the hardware that came with it being the strange fittings and the banjo bolt.. I used one fitting that fit the hole perfectly and it is what it is.

I had a few issue with mine too start but there service is second to none.

I just received this unit today. Came with two crush washers. Do I use both? I assume one goes between tank and banjo. Would the second go between the banjo and the bolt?
