hard krome baffles 6 Years, 5 Months ago
In the tech tips is shows how to make modifacations to the baffles on Hard Krome 3" straights to temper the sound. My question is can the baffles on Hard Krome K2 be modified if so how?
Thanks

The baffles on HK 3" big straights are a little bit of a problem to modify Jimmy.

Most baffels are designed to slip into the end of the tailpipe. On the HKs they are the endpipe. They are desinged to slip over the ends of the headers, and thus create the end of the tailpipe.

They are double wall steel, the outside is solid and the inside is perforated. If you want to get to a baffle-less type of arrangement, you can grind out the inner corners of the inside wall and it will fall out leaving the outer wall intact. I ran a set this way for a while and they were obnoxiously loud. I ended up replacing the modified baffles with a replacement set from HK.

I don't have a cool way to quiet them down, other than what we have in the tech tips section using a bread crumb cup, although it seems like a mod similiar to our front page article on modifying longshots should work nearly as well in the HKs.
