stiff steering 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago
the steering on my roadstar will not go into a turn easily, put it on a stand and no play in the front end.checked the axle bearings and they appeared in good shape. however right side of rim was shaped different behind bearing, it had an eighth inch ledge that the bearing rests against. is this correct? had tire balanced,it was way out when. they had the axle so tight i used a cheater pipe to loosen it .may this have caused my problem

Sounds like a lack of grease on the axle and probably worn out tires. Low air pressure will also do that . You didn't say how old the tires are.

Is the tread on your back tire flattened out? That will cause hard cornering.

And they have a tendency to follow the cracks in the pavement also. Be very careful.

Does the steering easily move back and forth when off the ground?

At what speed is it stiff? My scoot likes to go straight when movin'. The engine and radial tire dynamics set up like a gyroscope!

Do you use counter-steering when turning?

flh79wv that isn't typical of the R* check the neck bearing like was said. use push pull methiod of stearing. Push on the bars in the same direction you want to turn.
