Hello Hoodratt and all others on today, I'm just wondering about your stage 3 mod, did you have to rejet the carb. I've done stage 1 and 2 and like the sound but have been hesitant to go farther right now. Can't afford the Big Shots I really want on my '05 Midnight Silverado yet but just wondering about the rejet job. My R* runs absolutely great and sounds good now, hope to do some other things to it in the future. Luckily, here in NM, I don't have to put it up for the Winter, I can just RIDE, RIDE, RIDE!!! Would appreciate your feedback. Wishbone

thanks doc, really like your ride is very cool! did mucho reading about re-jetting and came to the conclusion that with the stage 3 mod i shouldnt have to do it. the stock head pipes are pretty restrictive, or so i've read, and unless the air intake system is changed or modified it should be ok. i'm in so cal so we are in our cold weather mode, ie: a jacket, haha. ride on!

Post edited by: hoodratt, at: 2005/12/12 20:27

Wishbone and Hoodratt,

I just changed out my air intake and rejetted the carburetor and the results have been phenomenal. I have a 2005 Road Star Silverado and had already changed out the exhaust system to Vance and Hines Powershots. Just this weekend I installed (a friend did most of it) a Baron's ported air intake manifold and the Baron's BAK. I've always thought the bike was pretty strong before these mods but I'll tell you, the first ride after the mods I was grinning from ear to ear. Was like the rush you get on some of those amusement park rides! I don't know what the gas mileage is gonna be like but if it's not terrible I'm gonna be a happy camper.

Hoodratt,
Thanks for you comments. I can guess at this point that since I live in sothern NM that I could also get by without rejetting if I do the Stage 3 mod. Does anyone else have any comments or suggestions? Thanks, Wishbone

Hey hoodrat, did you go straight to the stage three mod or did you ride with the stage on or two for a while and then decide they weren't loud enough? I've done the stage one to mine and like the sound very much but often wonder how different stage three would sound. I'd like to run into someone with the stage three mod so I can hear the difference. If I didn't like it (too loud, whatever) there would be no going back. Then I'd have to piss off my better half and spring for a five-hundred dollar aftermarket system. She's already asking when the list of extras is gonna dry up. Just waiting for warmer weather to return to New England.
