newriver, Is this when you are in traffic?

I always feel the turbulence from vehicles around me through the bars. It’s the nature of a fork mounted windshield or fairing and one of the draw backs.

I now have a batwing fairing on instead of the windshield. I still feel the cross winds and vehicle turbulence though it is less. Even more stable after putting on the Klock Werks Flare shield. It seems to help at least with the batwing.

I have an 08 and experienced the same problem. An other problem I had was the wind coming over the top of the windshield and pounding down on top of my helmet.

I ended up getting a 27" tall windshield from Clearview windshields and had them install the air vent in it. I realized later that the "buffeting" at 80mph was gone. While researching windshields I had run across a lot of information concerning the dynamics of windshields and how design etc affects handling etc and it was recommended to have the vent installed on really tall windshields to avoid that air pocket that would cause the handling problem.

I would imagine that an air vent would take care of the instability for the stock windshield too by removing the air pocket that is created.

Don't know, but that was my experience...

Can you post a photo showing the air vent?

I have noticed that very same problem on my bike. Rain grooves and wind buffeting were noticeable. Laid the windshield back at a lower angle and the knocked some of the wind buffeting out. The windshields are mounted directly to the front forks so there will always be a small amount of drift because of that. I had a Honda 750 that had a fairing on it and it was rock solid in the wind, but the rain grooves still made it wander a bit.
Fairings are frame mounted and the fork tubes turn in side of it.

Have a look at the rear spring preload. Assuming it's not already maxed out, try tightening it up in increments of maybe one to two turns at a time.

I had an issue with stability in sweeping curves that I eliminated by tightening up the rear preload.

Best of luck.

I had an issue with wind buffeting too. I had the medium shield on and tried different angles to no avail. So i rode some with the shield off and loved it. However, i got the smaller/tinted shield and added a big honking set of lowers (Curt's brackets and my lexan) and that combo pretty well eliminated 90% of the buffeting for me.

Wow, I have a 05 silverado......I noticed the same wobble at 75-80 mph, I thought it was all in my head. It's a handful at higher cruising speeds. I too have adjusted the angle of the shield to no avail. I would definently like to hear what others think. I am moving to the bat wing soon so no biggie. At least I'm not crazy!

There are lots of things that can cause the wobble. Tire balance, air pressures, fork oil, cupping on the front tire, and tire alignments etc.

i have a 08 and at rode rock solid till i had a lowering link installed.at 75 mph and up it got a little unstable.it drifted a lot.installed a windsheild and made it worse.what cured my problem was lowering the front the same amount.something you might look at if yours is lowered

I will get a picture taken and post it. It is the same thing as the vents that are used on the Gold Wings.
