#395829 yogi (User) Junior Boarder Posts: 183 Can I just remove this?? 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago   Guys, I have a question. I have an imported roadstar 2004 and there is a little extra to it. On the picture you can see a black cylinder near the shift peg (no, not the horn ) Someone told me that it is part of the AIS system, which comes on bikes from several parts in the USA, as for enviromental regulation. I know AIS and how to remove it, done it several times but what is that black cylinderthing?? And can I just remove it? Take a picture of it and the many experts here will confirm as to whether or not it is still needed. Thanks Ahamay, I have a european manual and this part is not in it. On this bike the complete AIS system is still on. It is a part of the "California Emissions" package. I've found info on removing it, but I don't remember exactly where. I think there may be some link on the forum for it. To answer your question, yes it can be removed and I did it when I took off my AIS system. That canister will have a hose going to your "roll-over valve" and it is supposed to store any gasoline vapors that come from your tank until the engine is started the next time. Should not effect bike unless your bike needs some sort of emissions testing required by your state.
