Dimples in handlebars? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Don't want to sound to stupid hear, but, I do not have clue as to what it means to have dimples in the handlebars. I have the opportunity to buy some ape hangers, but I need to know if I order them with or without dimples, WTF are dimples?

Not positive but I think the dimples are to have room for the wires to come out of the controls. But you might want to wait for someone who knows more about it. In fact I recommend you wait

Suck in you cheeks - those are dimples.

Same on the bars - they are indentations (recesses) at the point where the controls are. For stock controls it does not matter if you get them. If you're going with different controls then you may/may not need them.

Re:Dimples in handlebars? 1 Year, 4 Months ago
I put on a set of "dimpled" mini-apes just a couple months ago. Basically, there's a dent in the underside of the bars just in from where the controls would mount. I ran my wiring inside the bars. The dimples allowed me to have the wires exit the controls, go under the clamp for the levers/mirrors (in the dimples) and then into the bars near the first bend. The wires exit the bars on each side near the second bend. These particular bars were already drilled & dimpled so I didn't have much choice.

The other way to go would be to get the "undimpled" bars and drill the wiring holes directly under where the controls are. Then you could hide the wires entirely, although I've never done it so I don't know if there's enough room under the controls to allow for this.

I like the way mine turned out, especially since I only spent $50.00 and a few hours to get it done. I shrink-wrapped all the exposed wiring for a nice, clean look. If I was to do it again though I'd hide the wiring under the controls & have all the wires exit the bars inside the bar riser/clamp and out the bottom of the 1 pce riser (drill a hole). That would be the cleanest look, but would take a bit more effort.

Thanks for the help I'm not sure if I am going to go with the internal wire thing so I guess for me it doesn't matter.
