trike reverse 9 Months, 1 Week ago
Hello everyone, Wondering if anyone knows of a reverse for a 99 Road Star (xv1600al) with a trike kit? My father just got the bike it is still on two wheels. The kit I put on needs reverse he had a sportster trike but being a double amputy of the legs the road star is too heavy for him to push.Done alot of searching so far it looks like I'm going to have to make my own somehow. Thanks for any help

Which kit are you planning on using? I can answer alot of your questions on a trike as I built my own trike body & swingarm for my wife and she is just 5'2" and has no problem pushing the trike around. Your father might be surprised as to how easy a R* triked will roll around. My wife does her best to park where she rarely ever has to back her bike up. The champion trike kit has a reverse. I can't think of the other but I will check it out for ya.

I wonder if you could use a starter with a front pully hooked up to it and have it engage the belt somehow. Or have a gear type thing on the axle that matches the teeth on the starter. Dont know if it would/could work, never tried to make a reverse kit. just pulling ideas out my butt

Have not settled on any one kit yet. was going to go with what ever kit offered a reverse or has a design I can work with to rig up some kind of reverse.

Also I have run the idea of useing a starter and gear it down.I had a winch motor it seemed geared right, but was too bulky. I'll check that sight and run it by dad.
