Supposedly there's a couple places where Hylomar is available. Both negative. Gonna try someplace off the wall. That's probably where I'll find it.

Used a standard black RTV silicone sealer with the OEM rings. Took 20 minutes to pull out and 1 hour (and no beer) to put it all back together. Probably not a record for Curt but I'm happy.

Re:INTAKE Manifold 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I tested mine! I just got done! Pass!

The vibration through my arse is gone with the removal of the Ben Herr!

So seems to be the intake leak! It passed the ether squirt test and a test ride!

Finding the Hylomar was nothing less than a Nightmare, good thing I didn't send VikingWarHorse out to pick it up, he would have choked someone. Parts man after parts man ask, "Can I help you?" They get the question, look it up then answer the phone and talk for many minutes, It wasn't on the rack so obviously they did not have it. 53 miles of stopping at parts stores, Guess who had it? On the rack..... Pep Boys!
That was the first 3 hours.

Did I mention Yamaha was closed for the Holiday weekend? Harley was open Duly noted. So I had to use some old O rings I had from another intake. And more on this later.

Then Makcap shows up (He was waiting while I was looking) to assist. It all goes on pretty easy, I accidentally was smart enough to allow him to deal with the Hylomar, He almost got stuck tot he intake.

Next we notice the intake has no clamp on it. You know the special thin clamp that has that indent in it that matches the intake........ that holds the back of the carb to the intake. Well obviously when Yamaha switched it over from Stock intake to Ben Herr, the kept my clamp. This will account for the next two hours and 35 miles of searching. To no avail.

So, I took an old hose and filled the slot on the intake the clamp goes in, to raise the surface up past the little lip there, and then I put a regular clamp on. It is holding. Test ride at hour no 5.

Gigantic improvement over Ben Herr in idling, before it was all over the map. I need to tone the PMS down or something. Idles a little high now because there is no leak. I gave it a crank and I leave it there for a while.

Far as open road running it ran great. No popping and a noticeably less throttle requires to maintain speed. Like at 5th gear 45 MPH I am like 1/16th on the throttle. Going to be some getting used to. Maybe have to jet down, needle down.

Other Than that I did it all, Rode it like I stole it, wide open to 100, quick decel, tried to load it up, tried to make it cough, all was good just as it is.

Going to clean my K&N and that should lean it out a bit.

Now then Dealer used to do this and 100 miles later it would leak. But this time I have Cur ts manifold on there, the Hylamar, and the special quarter moon shaped washers. So for the first time in 50K miles I may have a sealed intake! It {ASSED the ether test when I got back from the test ride! It never passed before! With Ben Herr it seemed like it always leaded, just sometimes less than others.

Thanks Curt for the intake and all the help I got here with tips and ideas.

VERY FRUSTRATED to have a clinic member waiting at the house to help you and People who phone in get all the service. I want to go kill a line of parts idiots!

Just took it for a short jaunt. Popping is a LOT less. Gonna snug up the pipes tomorrow when it's cooled down. If I find some Hylomar (no Pep Boys around here) I'll get some and redo the manifold. Till then I'm good.

I paid $9 for the tube I bought but when MR NAPA brought it up on the screen it said Village auto and a price of $7 was on the screen.

It remains flexible under all temps and does not dry out, that's why it works so good.

Directions say to install it, then re torque it. I have to pull it apart and re torque it.
