Fuel pump removal 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I rescently installed a new 2.5 inlet needle for the float bowl, installed a Maxair air cleaner, and jet kit, the bike runs beautiful. Now I want to remove the fuel pump all together, since it's not needed with the new needle, but what the heck do you mount the enrichener(choke) knob to? The knob is now mounted to the bottom of the fuel pump bracket, which will be removed with the pump. Any suggestions. By the way if anyone is one the fence about whether to make this modification or not, DO IT! What a difference, the bike doesn't starve for fuel it starts and warms up a whole lot quicker, even at 20 degrees, and it doesn't "pop" thru the carb anymore. I also removed the AIS garbage. Glad it's working for you.

There are various ways to mount the enricher. I just bought some flat aluminium stock and bent it so one leg was about 2" and the other leg was about 3-4". I rounded the long leg and drilled a hole in it to accept the encricher. On the short leg I drilled to mounting holes.

Sounds more complex than it was making it.

I have my needle but waiting for warmer weather when the fuel isn't a sub-zero temp

I purchased a skull to cover the empty spot where the fuel pump will no longer be hopefully I'll get its eyes to light up with all the juice I'll get from no fuel pump

I've read "no more popping through carb" I suspect that the float level adjustment may have something to do with it along with the larger needle valve. I am not a stranger to the carb cough a lean codition within the small/idle circut that I could never excercise completely. Changing the needle valve should of been in our jet kits as an option when changing the jetting. Ya think?

Anyway I've been wrong many time before. What's one more time LOL
