I used a 6" piece of aluminum flat stock, drilled a 3/8" hole and cut out one side. Then bent it and used the original holes that the pump was mounted to....very simple yet clean look.

I re-located mine to a shelf in the garage.
Here is where the choke knob went:

There was enough cable to run it there.

I installed the Baron's relo kit a couple of years back. I really liked how it opened up the "V". The carb did puke once after the relo. It was a very very hot and humid day here in NC. Later I installed a Forcewinder intake that increased cooling.

I went pumpless this year and pulled the relo kit (but kept the little choke bracket installed that attaches to the tank bolt).

dont relocate the pump. ditch the pump.

cant remember the p/n(s) for the replacement float valve off hand but there are a couple you can use.

BUT, this summer here in South Tx, i have had a problem with the fuel vapor locking. nothing that venting the stock cap solved.

I did the same thing. Read the tech artical. It has just enough info to get the job done and still lets you do some thinking.

Here's how I relocated mine:
http://www.roadstarmagazine.com/2002/10/yamaha-road-star-fuel-pump-relocation/

I did this after the 1000 mi trip from picking it up new at the dealer. Now I've got 15000 mi on it. So far so good!

I even bought the Grizzly valve to go pumpless, then decided that I didn't want to change how the fuel gauge, warning light and reserve worked.
